Long stays
Long stays, by the month
Past 30 days the logic changes: it stops being a trip and starts being living there for a while.
Thirty days is the line. Below it a hotel works: you sleep, you work, you leave. Above it, everything a hotel lacks starts to weigh — a kitchen so you’re not eating out seven days a week, a washing machine, a real desk, room for the suitcase to stop being a suitcase.
Long stays also change the arithmetic. A monthly rate gets compared with rent, not with a hotel night, and once you add utilities, internet and cleaning, the gap against furnishing an empty apartment for six months is wide.
We run units built for stays of a month or more: furnished, with fibre internet included and scheduled cleaning, in Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos. They work equally for a consultant on a project, someone in medical treatment, or anyone working remotely for a season.
What changes most over a long stay is not the apartment, it is everything around it. Knowing who to message when the water heater fails on a Saturday, having cleaning handled without arranging it each time, not renegotiating the rate every few weeks. Those are the things that make the difference between a long stay that works and one you count down the days of.
